ENV 40003: Computer Integrated Manufacturing - Systems Architecture - Framework for Enterprise Modelling, CEN/CENELEC, 1991

The basis for European standardisation work, building heavily on inputs from the CIMOSA AMICE project, provides a common conceptual high-level framework within which key concepts of the (distributed, extended, virtual etc.) enterprise can be identified, documented and shared with partners in that enterprise. Established 'the cube' with its three dimensions of:

* modelling levels - for different life-cycle stages (from requirements definition to design specification to implementation description);

* genericity - providing generic concepts which are then specialised to a particular industry sector and finally to a specific enterprise; and

* views - classifying concepts by four areas of concern or modeller viewpoint (function, information, resource and organisation).

Intended audience: those concerned with developing comprehensive enterprise models.
